PARISH POLICY

Parish Office

Open:

Tuesday 9-5pm, Wednesday 9-5pm and 6-9pm, Thursdays 9-5pm, Fridays 9-5pm, and Saturdays 9-12 noon. During lunch breaks from 12-1pm.  On Mondays the office is closed. On this day, please use the answering machine only in necessary instances. The office does not give away confidential information and information that is not linked with the parish’s activity.

The Priests’ Duties

On several days of the week (except on Mondays) there exists the possibility of meeting with the priest on duty. Those who are interested should contact the given priest to meet at a convenient time.

Registration

We are an ethnic parish, which means that the members of our parish are those who are formally registered. The registration forms (blue) and changes of address (green) are located in the church hall. After filling them out, please throw them in the basket during Sunday’s collection. We ask also to inform us about address changes.

Parish Envelopes

People who wish to help the parish financially can do so using the envelopes. Regular users receive them once a year, usually in December. New users are asked to contact the parish office in November. Contributions for the church can be deducted from income tax. Income tax return for each year is sent to parishioners at the end of February.

The Parish Bulletin

The bulletin is printed every week and its goal is to regularly inform the parishioners about all the most important parish events. Information to be added to the bulletin is accepted every Tuesday. Regular information concerning the parish’s activity is found on the exterior side of the bulletin.

Those who wish to advertise their business in the parish bulletin are asked to contact the office at the turn of the months June and July. New advertisements are found in the bulletin in October. Parishioners have precedence. All advertisement that deals with entertainment and profit, and that is not linked with the parish, is to be paid for.

Certificates, Reference Letters, Consents

These are given only to parishioners registered at least 6 months after they previously confirm over the telephone with a priest (not by hand). Waiting time is 3 days.

Passport Applications

These are signed for people who are known by the priests and officially registered in the parish for at least two years. Please give us two days for this.

Pope’s Blessings

On the occasion of family anniversaries, they must be ordered at least one month earlier.

Mass Intentions

One family can order 3 Mass intentions throughout the whole year – 1 on Sunday and 2 during the week. The Mass intentions are ordered directly in the parish office, not by telephone. Please make your offering at the office at the time of ordering.

REMINDER: A service to Mary of Perpetual Help is held every Wednesday after the evening Mass. The amount of Mass intentions on this day is unlimited. Those, who missed their chance to order or because of lack of space did not order a Mass with an individual intention can take advantage of this Mass with collective intentions. Intentions are received by the parish office.

MASS INTENTIONS can also be sent for the Mission. Their validity does not depend on the hour of day or place of performance. Let’s be understanding and give all an even chance in ordering Mass intentions.

Baptisms

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism:

- in Polish is accorded every Sunday during Mass at 2:30pm.

- in English is accorded on Saturday at 5pm or Sunday at 9:30am. Preparation is compulsory for parents and godparents. (If it is the first child baptised in our parish 2 meetings are obligatory – the first for the child’s parents and the second for the parents and godparents. If it is the second or following child, only one meeting is compulsory. The parents have to be members of our parish or have the agreement of the parish that they belong to.)

Blessing of Children on their First Year Baptism Anniversary

On the last Sunday of the month (with small exceptions) during the 1:00pm Mass there is a blessing of children who are celebrating their first baptism anniversary. We ask that the names of the children be given to us on the month that they were baptised.

Weddings

Couples that wish to be joined in the sacrament of marriage should make an appointment directly with a priest. It is compulsory that they are members of the parish or they must have the approval of their native parish for the wedding. They must take a pre-marital course and show a baptism certificate with a date not exceeding half a year. Those who are planning to be married outside Canada’s borders and outside the parish that they belong to should contact the priest in order to receive the approval of the diocese, that is the License of the Assistance for the Marriage.
